Chapter 2

According to Rob McInnes from diversityworld.com, “Generally speaking, the term “Workforce Diversity” refers to policies and practices that seek to include people within a workforce who are considered to be, in some way, different from those in the prevailing constituency.” Companies are required to include a diverse group of employees under the terms of fulfilling a social responsibility, a legal requirement, as well as the benefit of a new marketing strategy.
Social responsibility refers to diversifying the workforce so that companies can give an opportunity to others to earn a living and achieve their career dreams. By legal requirement companies are responsible to follow the law and be sure that employees respect each other. Therefore under the law it makes good business sense to utilize a diverse workforce. Furthermore, it is greatly beneficial to the company to be diverse because in today’s global economy, the market is represented by people from different places with different cultural backgrounds. So when a company employees a diverse workforce they have marketing edge with greater insight so it ensures that their products and services are designed for everyone without exclusions.
